Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child of Richard McCormick Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father worked as a school teacher while her mother was mother at home. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three elder brothers. At a young age, McCormick loved to sing and dance, and she would frequently present puppet shows to youngsters in the area. McCormick won the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest at age 6 and was then contacted by Pat Domigan, a talent agent with the Jack Wormser Agency. He requested that she be interested to work in the show business. McCormick got her first big task in 1964 as she acted in a commercial on television for Mattels newest doll Baby Pattaburp. In the following year, she starred in another commercial for the companys Chatty Cathy doll and was later cast in the show The Wind It up until It is Broken on stage at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick, which was chosen out of 1500 auditioned children, was cast as the third of three head-to-head daughters in The Brady Bunch (1969) with Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. The show ran for five seasons. In her autobiography Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice released in 2008, McCormick disclosed that during the shows fifth season she nearly lost her virginity due to her onscreen brother and co-star Barry Williams. He was 19 years old. She was 16. It would have happened she told me, but the timing was never right for us.
